CRSPR Flamethrower
Loadout Guide
Scorching Tide
The Scorching Tide Overclock, by itself, can instakill the Nemesis at point blank range. Just walk up really close and hold reload. The rest of the build doesn't even matter. But it's not always the best choice for other situations, and its not always safe.
Strategy
The Nemesis ignites at a temperature of 666.67 degrees, which immediately destroys it regardless of it's remaining HP. We reach this temperature by applying direct heat to the Nemesis and utilizing sticky flames to prevent it from cooling off when it's barriers are blocking our attacks.
Steps:
- Shoot flames at the Nemesis until it throws a barrier at you.
- Quickly create a line of sticky flames between you and the Nemesis.
- Immediately start reloading your flamethrower.
- Steer the Nemesis over your sticky flames.
- Dodge the barrier, or tank it.
- Repeat until the Nemesis is detroyed.
Notes:
- It should take 2-4 cycles to reach ignition temperature.
- This is a lot easier if you have the agro, otherwise you have no way to steer it.
- Sticky flames can be applied to any nearby surface. But if it's hovering too far away from the flames, it'll cool off too fast.
- You don't need to target weakpoints. Hitting the nemesis on any part of the main body will apply the maximum heat possible.
Tiers:
- High Pressure Ejector (+5m Reach): I recommend a minimum 12 meter reach. And this is usually the best way to do that.
- Triple Filtered Fuel (+10 Heat): This is basically mandatory. It doubles your heat output.
- Sticky Flame Slowdown (+45% Slow): Player choice, but I recommend starting with Sticky Flame Slowdown to make it easier to stay back from the Nemesis.
- Stick Flame Duration (+3s Durration): I recommend at least +1 second to sticky flames for reliable heat management, but it's not absolutely required.
- Explosion (50% Chance): Player choice, but I recommend Explosion for better wave clear.
Overclocks:
Lighter Tanks: Good ammo management.
Compact Feed Valves: Better ammo management for some risk.
Face Melter: Tons of damage for more risk.
Fuel Stream Diffuser: Great safety for a little less damage.
Sticky Additive: More reliable heat management.
Sticky Fuel: Highly reliable heat management for worse ammo management.
Scorching Tide: Easy oneshot for less overall weapon flexibility.
Range:
The range of the flamethrower can vary from 7 meters to 20 meters depending on what combination of options you choose. Here's a list of all the possible totals, along with my summary of the reletive risk it poses when used in fights against the Nemesis. 20: Safe 15: Cautious 13: Measured 12: Risky 10: Dangerous 8: Reckless 7: Deadly
