Charged Shots now deal their Direct Damage to enemies hit by the projectile while in-flight, but it no longer explodes upon impact (functionally removing Area Damage). Deals x3 damage vs Frozen targets. Additionally: x0.3 AoE Radius. Regular Shots do [5 plus 25% of their Direct Damage] Heat per shot which can ignite enemies, and 70% of the Charged Shot's damage is converted to Fire-element + Heat.
Shoot the Charged Shot with a Regular Shot before it impacts anything to make it detonate for 240 Damage and carve terrain within a 3m radius. Additionally: x0.8 Heat per Regular Shot and x0.8 Heat per Charged Shot.
Regular Shots now do 10 Fire-element Area Damage in a 1.5m Radius in exchange for -10 Direct Damage.

Loadout Guide

STRATEGY

  • Use Direct Sludge Charge shots on large groups of enemies.
  • Follow up the Charge Shots with a Thin Containment Field Shot to kill any stragglers.
  • Use Persistent Plasma to kill small groups of Jellies and Swarmers.
  • Throw a Stun C4 whenever you see a Mactera Cloud approaching. This will freeze them in a 10 meter radius for 5 seconds, allowing for an easy TCF shot to kill them.
  • When throwing Neurotoxin Grenades, be very considerate of your teammates. Toss them over ledges and in tunnels, far away from your team and never on top of them.
  • Neurotoxin Grenades cover for almost all of the Sludge Pump's weaknesses. Any swarmer, grunt, jelly, or parasite that walks in will likely die immediately, allowing you to focus on the bigger enemies.

NOTES

  • This build struggles against Goo Bombers and Oppressors, so feel free to bring the Berserker Perk or Barbed Drills to better combat them.
  • Look for opportunities to utilize your Stunning potential. Drills inherently have built-in stun and fear, making it perfect for stopping Goo Bombers, or getting Slashers away from you.
  • Stun C4 is amazing for giving you free time to reload, free time to revive a teammate, free time to resupply, and free time to kill all of the trash while they are stunned.
  • This build requires Overclocks, since the Sludge Pump struggles against Swarmers and Jellies by itself. You may substitute this with Wave Cooker Boiler Ray though.
