When the Heat Meter is greater than 50%, you can press the Reload button to manually activate the Overheat mode. When used in this way, Overheat's duration gets multiplied by x0.65, and also scales with the current Heat level (50% Heat Meter = x0.5 Overheat Duration).
When the Heat Meter is greater than 50%, the Rate of Fire is increased by +5 (up to a maximum of 20 RoF).

Loadout Guide

STRATEGY

  • Always be on the lookout for High Value Targets and Priority Targets. (Acid Spitters, Goo Bombers, Wardens, Menaces, Mactera, etc)
  • Whenever a Large Ranged enemy is about to shoot, or you spot them approaching your team, double fire the Boomstick to stun them. This will essentially shut them down and interrupt their attack for the next 6 seconds, allowing you to mag dump them and eliminate the threat.
  • Stunning with the Boomstick works best against Goo Bombers, Wardens (stops them from summoning a swarm), lone Mactera, Menaces (immediate shutdown), and Praetorians.
  • Save Cryo Grenades for Emergency Threats. The best time to use them is against Mactera Clouds, Spitballers, Barrage Infectors, Praetorians, etc.
  • Once you freeze a big enemy-- like a Praetorian, Spitballer, or a Barrage Infector-- do not use TEF first, as the heat will unfreeze them. Use your Boomstick First, and chip them down to a low enough HP, so you can finish them off with the Drak.

NOTES

  • This build is centered entirely on shutting down High Value Targets. It does not prioritize swarm clear to any degree.
  • Taking More Pellets for the Boomstick in Tier 3 will offer much more total damage than stun. I prefer stun for disabling Menaces and Wardens for long durations of time, but this is up to personal preference.
  • Because of the reload mod in Tier 5 of the Boomstick, Born Ready is not required. Feel free to swap it out for any other perk you want.
  • Overclocks are required for this build, as the Drak simply isn't very strong at base.
