Short(er) Version:
Weapon | Upgrades | Overclock |
---|---|---|
Cryo Cannon | 2-1-X-2-2 | Tuned Cooler |
Colette Wave Cooker | 3-2-2-1-3 | Diffusion Ray |
Weapon | Notes |
---|---|
Cryo Cannon | Upgrades are set to use the weapon faster and freeze enemies faster for the Colette Wave Cooker, your Drills or your allies finish the job. |
Colette Wave Cooker | Upgrades are set to cause temperature shock as fast as possible-- fire it at frozen enemies so they take high damage. Whatever else depends on whether you want to cause damage or focus more on temperature shock. |
Perk | Notes |
---|---|
Vampire | Highly recommended for this build as kills with Drills or Impact Axes will trigger it. |
Tool | Upgrades | Notes |
---|---|---|
Reinforced Power Drills | 1-1-1-1 | Standard build, but Barbed Drills upgrade is mandatory. Freeze enemies and mow them down. Kills with it triggers the Vampire perk. |
Satchel Charge (C4) | X-X-X | Personal taste and whatever you need at the moment. Ammo and Stun is my go-to as it'll stun anything it can't kill, giving you time to freeze or run away from it. |
Throwable | Impact Axe | Your burst damage option for Praetorians and Oppressors. Freeze and throw it. |
Heavy Drill Suit | 1-X-1-3 | Breathing Room is always a safe choice. |
Detailed Explanation:
Cryo Cannon
- Upgrades are set to lessen the penalty of Tuned Cooler's slower chargeup time and allow you to freeze enemies quickly.
- If you spot a group of Grunts approaching, freeze them and proceed to attack with anything else, or let your allies take them out.
- Always be careful and have the presence of mind to run away if ranged enemies are around or you feel the situation is too dangerous.
Colette Wave Cooker
- Upgrades are set to cause temperature shock. While it can reliably kill Grunts on its own it's somewhat ammo inefficient doing it without it, if you don't intend to use temperature shock you may opt to use the Subata or the Experimental Plasma Charger.
- This weapon can take out fragile enemies like Swarmers, Naedocyte Shockers and Web Spitters handily. Acid Spitters are bulkier, so keep it in mind.
- Diffusion Ray gives it a piercing effect and slowdown. Power Supply Overdrive (Tier 4) can be used if you want to get rid of a Web Spitter bugging you. You can temperature shock kill large groups of Grunts VERY quickly with it.
Reinforced Power Drills
- With Barbed Drills upgrade this weapon is very good at killing frozen Grunts (Grunt Guards takes much longer, however) and can dispatch wounded frozen Praetorians, Wardens and Stingtails.
- If you have the Vampire perk every kill with it gives +5 Health back and depending on the size of the group of Grunts you can recover a non-negligible amount of health.
- Be very careful when killing with the Drill. DO NOT try it if you're being targeted by ranged enemies or if you can't freeze the vast majority of Grunts. If you're reckless and get too greedy you WILL be downed in higher Hazard levels.
Satchel Charge (C4)
- Use it to kill tankier enemies like Praetorians, Stingtails and Wardens if they're in the middle of the swarm. Or simply if you feel like you don't want to waste ammo on a swarm of Grunts.
- It should go without saying but watch out for friendly fire.
Impact Axe
- Impact Axe is here to quickly dispatch anything problematic like Praetorians and Oppressors. Praetorians on Haz 5 (with four people) will almost go down in two throws while Oppressors will go down in three throws.
- Remember: you can throw, cancel the animation with a pickaxe swing and throw another in quick succession.
- Kills with Impact Axe will trigger the Vampire perk, you can use it to get up with Iron Will if you freeze a beefier enemy and throw the axes at them.
