About “Cryo Mode”:
This loadout offers a few interesting utilities: freezing enemies, blasting minerals out of high walls, and the option to heal with melee damage. This is good to use on some missions, but struggles on others. It may be viable for Elimination missions for the effect of freezing the Dreadnaughts, but there are other loadouts I have in mind that are much safer (and practical) for that.
Weapons:
Cryo Cannon: I like to use the Ice Storm overclock for this because I like to outright kill most enemies with it. Before, I was using the Improved Thermal Efficiency and Tuned Cooler Overclocks with the Teir 5A Fragile mod for quickly killing what I spray, but I was missing out on the benefit of the Tier 5B mod: Cold Radience.
So with Ice Storm, I get to utilize both benefits. Here’s a link to an overview of Ice Storm and the mods I recommend for it: https://karl.gg/preview/29100#/
EPC: Modded to be a General Purpose sidearm, but also as either a specialized swarm clearing weapon or an expedient mining tool, thanks to the Tier 5B mod; Thin Containment Field.
The Energy Reroutung overclock makes all three features possible. Persistent Plasma is an alternative choice, but you miss out on the benefit of using less ammo per charged shot versus just a faster charge speed from either respective mod on tier 3. It’s your choice, though.
Impact Axe: While most people agree that this is the most powerful throwable weapon in the game, I feel that this pairs best with the Cryo Cannon for the benefit of the extra damage it can deal to frozen targets (and the little bit of health you can recover if you go with the Vampire perk).
Equipment:
Drills: Modded to be a weapon as well as a traversal tool. I used to go with both speed mods, but the problem is that having both mods on doesn’t take you as far as the +50% faster speed suggests. You just end up wasting more fuel for so little extra distance and moving at the same speed. For that reason, I go with Barbed Drills for this loadout and Expanded Fuel Tanks for my other Driller loadouts.
C4 Satchel Charges: Modded for mining and shaping the terrain for easier manuverability, depending on the map generation. It’s the responsible way I believe C4 should be used in this game. Using them as a weapon is just the worst thing you can do.
Perks:
- Elemental Resistance (Safe) / Vampire (Melee)
- Thorns
- Resupplier
- Hover Boots (Safe) / See You In Hell (Melee)
- Heightened Senses
